Titanium Alloys Specifications

Below you will find a list of Applicable Specifications for various Titanium Grade Alloys.

AMS 4902

Description:  The AMS 4902 specification can be found covering one grade of commercially pure titanium on plate, strip and sheet. Usually, the specification is found in parts that require oxidation resistance for temperatures up to 600 degrees F (316 degrees C), moderate strength up to 400 degrees F (204 degrees C) and aqueous corrosion resistance, however it is not limited to only these applications. Material Specification:  Commercially Pure, Annealed, Plate, Strip, and Sheet, Yield Strength 40.0 KSI (276 MPA). The AMS 4902 specification is commonly found in Grade 2 Titanium Ti40 strip alloy.

AMS 4940

Description:  Covering one grade of commercially pure titanium, the specification AMS 4940 can be in the form of plate, strip, or sheet. Typically, you will find this specification in parts that need titanium with good formability, without high strength. However, it is not limited to that application. Material Specification:  Commercially Pure, Annealed, Titanium Plate, Strip, and Sheet, Yield Strength 25.0 KSI (172 MPA). You can find the AMS 4940 specification in Grade 1 Titanium Ti25 strip alloy.

AMS 4989

Description: The AMS 4989 specification is for plate, strip, and sheet forms of a titanium alloy. It is commonly used in parts that need oxidation resistance in temperatures up to 600 degrees F (316 degrees C), weldability, and strength, but can be used for other applications as well. Material Specification:  Plate, Strip, and Sheet, Titanium Alloy, Solution Heat Treated 3al 2.5v. The AMS 4989 specification can be found in Grade 9 Titanium Ti3-2.5 strip alloy.

ASTM B265

Description:  Covering plates, sheets, and strip for annealed titanium and titanium alloys, the ASTM B265 specification undergoes rigorous testing. This includes for chemical composition requirements including Titanium, Silicon, Zirconium, Niobium, Nickel, Chromium, Molybdenum, Cobalt, Palladium, Ruthenium, Tin, Vanadium, Aluminum, Oxygen, Iron, Hydrogen, Carbon, and Nitrogen. In regard to strip and sheet, it must be bent cold and without fracture on the outside of the bent portion. Also, product analysis tolerances are tested in measuring the chemical content of the product. When tested, the cut samples are done in an environment that is dust free, due to its affinity to Hydrogen, Nitrogen, and Oxygen. These tests are performed by the purchaser or manufacturer. Material Specification:  Specifications for Titanium and Titanium Alloys in Plate, Sheet and Strip Form. The ASTM B265 specification is typically found in Grade 1 Titanium Ti25 strip alloy.
