Titanium Grade 7 has physical and mechanical properties similar to Grade 2. It has excellent welding and fabrication properties and is extremely resistant to corrosion especially from acids due to the addition of palladium.

When you examine Titanium Grade 7 plating, the first thing that you will notice is that it is very similar to the Grade 2 alloy. Physically and mechanically it is the exact same. The same level of corrosion resistance, the same weldability, and same level of ductility. The question can be asked, if they are so similar, why are there two different grades for seemingly the same alloy. This is due to the fact that Grade 7 Titanium has one slight and small difference that makes it extremely valuable to one industry in particular.
Grade 7 Titanium alloy contains a small amount of palladium. This small amount actually adds to the level of corrosion resistance in the alloy itself, especially in the presence of acids. In fact, of all of the grades of titanium alloys, it is the most corrosion resistant one that you will find on the market. The one industry that takes advantage of this more than any other is the chemical processing industry.
In chemical processing, you will often find machinery that has extremely volatile chemicals passing through, and being stored within it. It is commonly known that acids eat away at anything it comes in contact with, therefore the metals that are used to build these machines and storage units must be able to handle having acids within them for very long periods of time. Due to the small amount of palladium, Grade 7 Titanium is perfect for the job. Also, it maintains this level of resistance in both extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures. No matter what the environment is, Titanium Grade 7 is up to the task. Also, because the plating is identical to Grade 2 in every other way, it can be welded and formed into any shape or size. This means you will not have to worry about how to get a piece of alloy that needs to be formed into a peculiar shape, Grade 7 can be made to fit it.
