Elgiloy Specialty Metals completed the move of its wire operation in September making way for strip expansion in its Elgin facility.

The wire mill was relocated to a 74,000 square foot facility. The additional floor space permitted ESM the installation of two additional multi-hole drawing machines. An increase in large diameter single hole operations and expansion of the wet drawing operations.

The wire move was essential to provide enhanced customer service and to make room for the addition of a second strip rolling mill inside the Elgin facility.

An additional rolling mill capable of rolling as thin as .0008 inches and up to 15 inches wide along with a matching slitter was purchased to meet current and future demands. Both units were delivered to Elgin in October and are expected to be operational late 2009. Additional support equipment, annealing, specialized cleaning and inspection equipment will be added as capacity warrants the necessity.

The expansion of these operations was in direct response to customer demand and market forecast for years 2010 and beyond. ESM has always met the challenge in preparing for future demands. This multi-million dollar expansion is another testimony to our commitment.
